A personal style update
Since becoming a mother, my personal style has really been left behind in my past life! At the start of 2025, I resolved to focus on working towards my pre-pregnancy body weight and finding my personal style once again.
“Not caring about what you wear is one of the most disrespectful things you can do to yourself”
If you are well dressed people will start treating you with more respect and trust
If you are well dressed you will feel better about yourself and boost your self confidence
If you are well dressed then you signal your brain that you are worth investing in and it not only changes how other people see you but how you see yourself
Wise words from style and fashion advisor Felipe Palaez. Words to live by from here onwards! Stepping into this new year with a different body and mindset, I am completely committed to enjoying wearing all the pieces in my wardrobe that I have been collecting over the last 10 years that have so far, mostly, not seen the light of day! Though, I might still leave the school run to my mum jeans and T-shirt for the time being.
Seeing a dietitian this year has really helped me find a much more stable lifestyle balance. I am now eating more consistently and more balanced which has so far resolved a lot of the constant hunger issues I have been suffering with most of my life. It really gave me a clear understanding of how my body functions and what I need to do to help it best through nurturing it with the right things throughout the day. The plus side to all this knowledge is feeling much better throughout the day, and much better weight management.
As fashion stylist Felipe also mentions that dressing well is a cheat code and it doesn’t require wearing expensive designer clothes. In fact, I do just absolutely love to wear expensive designer clothes, but by finding them at an absolute fraction of the price through some pretty savy shopping. My retail therapy now exclusively consists of hunting down new items through Vinted, Yoox, and sample sales. With years of fashion show scouting and luxury window shopping, I have a long list of archive pieces I am still keen to get my hands on. While sometimes it feels like a full time hobby searching for these items, the rewards when I finally come across a piece I have been coveting for ages it almost unmatched. I am even thinking of making a comeback of personal style posts here to document my fashion findings !
When it comes to shopping for our kids, they are also having a conscious fashion moment with their personal style journey. I am also pretty much exclusively shopping all their luxury fashion pieces on Vinted and through the Zara Timelesz collection, made up of beautiful and relaxed fits for every season. Don’t get me wrong though, the kids are also wearing their worst rags to climb trees and roll around in the mud.
