Jupiter Artland
“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will”
George Bernard Shaw
Since the setting of my last post was Scotland I thought I would continue the journey here and take you to a beautiful sculpture garden called Jupiter Artland just outside Edinburgh. Set in the grounds of the Jacobean manor: Bonnington House, home to Robert and Nicky Wilson, who open up their beautiful sculpture garden and woodland to the public during the warmer months of the year between May and September.
I have visited Jupiter Artland several times, both alone and with our children and each time I am excited to start the day here with a wonderful lunch in the gorgeous interiors of the Cafe Party Bistro. I also happen to be coveting the fun crockery used to serve in the Bistro, they can all be found in the Jupiter Artland Shop. Once lunch is done, I find it the perfect time to follow the sculpture walk (map is attached below) from the steadings through a woodland path showcasing some of the incredible permanent art works commissioned from international contemporary artists, alongside an ongoing programme of temporary exhibitions. Within the landscape garden you will find the incredible pool designed by artist Joana Vasconcelos and created using vibrant, hand-painted, Portuguese tiles. Swimming sessions in the pool can also be booked during Summer months. I am still waiting for the perfectly hot summer’s day to tick that off my list.
I enjoy continuing my walk through The Rose Walk by Pablo Bronstein, photographed above. I have so many beautiful memories and photographs in these grounds – it’s tough to pick through what to showcase but if you are like me and already filling up the 2025 calendar of things to do then I really recommend adding a Jupiter Artland day trip and lunch to your list.
Another thing that is still on my Jupiter Artland list is a stay at the gorgeous cottage: The Artists House, which sleeps up to six guests and can be booked through their website. The Artland also offers a place wonderful place to host children’s birthday parties, for something more fun and unique.
Wonderful and stunning photos ❤️
