Beauty, She Said He Said, Style

But First, Coffee

As I have grown older I have come to find great comfort in a daily routine, with a healthy balance of spontaneity of course. However, no day ever gets off to a better start without that much needed caffeine fix. Every morning, once we have finally given in to the sound of our various different wake up alarms, of which there are many, we finally agree to head down for that much needed caffeine fix, of which there are (now) two.

My day starts with a delicious and lovingly made mug of hot Brazilian coffee topped with piping hot milk, which Matt now whips into a perfect froth. Matt on the other hand takes his black and only just lukewarm or sometimes cold. That first coffee of the day really is a time to unwind, relax, get myself ready planning for the day and to simply wake up. I have to say I’m not a morning person.

But First Coffee

The next caffeine fix comes much sooner than you might think, in perhaps the last place you might think: the shower. It is impossible for me to start my day without having a shower and washing my hair. Not a day goes by throughout the year without me starting the day without a shower. In my opinion it’s the perfect way to feel really refreshed and rejuvenated for the rest of the day. Matt’s morning routine continues much like mine though some days he chooses to skip a day washing his hair which is perhaps better for all those natural oils I am told.

I have, for as long as I can remember (though it wasn’t always the case believe it or not), had the most thick, wiry and dry hair. I have tried my fair share of expensive products that claim to fix everything that is wrong with my hair right from the root straight to the tip. Ultimately though all the haircare products I have tried for dry hair and split ends never really stuck around in my routine for long as they never really lived up to those claims.

In recent years, however, I have decided that good hair comes down to just a few simple essentials and fantastic haircare products that live up to their claims. So let me introduce you to those haircare products that do and have firmly found their way into our routine and look like they are here to stay.

Firstly, in my opinion, a regular visit to the hairdressers for a cut every three months is the first step to committing to good hair. The second, is buying good shampoo and conditioner. Now if you have extremely dry curls like Matt and I then a leave-in hair oil is essential after every wash as well as weekly or monthly hair oil treatments. This might all sound like a lot of work to you, but lately I have managed to commit to adding these simple steps into my daily/weekly routine.

Hair Xpertise Shampoo & Conditioner

So back to our second caffeine fix, in the shower. After a lot of research and googling how to “get good hair” in the lead up to our wedding in June, because my hair had to look it’s best on that particular day, Matt and I discovered the magic of Hair Xpertise and in our opinion the company making the best Argan Oil & Caffeine treatments we have tested so far. We now use this fantastic caffeinated/argan oil shampoo and conditioner as part of our daily routine because it leaves our hair feeling smooth, silky, well conditioned and smelling awesome.

We both also religiously use the Hair Xpertise leave-in Argan Oil as part of our daily routine because it is truly the best on the shelf … but I will leave that for Matt to explain in his next blog post which will be coming soon.
